WHAT IS CROSSFIT?
CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program consisting of body weight movements (gymnastics), Olympic lifting, powerlifting and plyometric and aerobic exercise.
Equipment like barbells, kettlebells, boxes, pull-up bars and gymnastic rings are some of the things you may use during a workout.
The beauty of CrossFit is that you just have to show up. Group style classes last one hour and include a programmed warm up. The WOD (workout of the day) includes a strength or skill focus (a specific lift or advanced movement) and a Metcon (metabolic conditioning).
Your coach will walk you through every movement, supply modifications to those who need it, and provide tips and encouragement throughout the class. After the WOD there is mobility and stretching to help your body cool down.
