 We are into April! I am so excited for sunshine and warmer weather- who else is with me??

 

Here's what we've got going on in April:

 

SUGAR CHALLENGE:

I'm sure this will be harder for some than others, but this is an invite to anyone who would like to break their sugar addiction, lose some fat, improve their overall health and maybe win some MONEY!

Here's how it works:

-Will run from 4/3- 5/1

-Entry $20 (for winners pot)

-There is an availability of up to 10 points per week- whoever has the most points at the end of the month wins the pot! (pot will be split in the event of a tie)

-Point Values: 3 points for coming at least 3x in a week, 1 point for each day without added sugar (This is based on the honor system guys! Let's play fair and create an honest challenge for ourselves!)

-Points to be recorded weekly on the chart at the gym- Let me know by Saturday 4/1 if you are IN!

 

GUIDELINES:
Foods that have added sugar of any kind are not allowed.  You might be surprised to learn that sugar has many names and is often disguised in the ingredient list.  Reading the fine print on ingredient labels is absolutely necessary for this challenge.  Here is a list of 50 different names used for sugar.

No added sweeteners of any kind are allowed, to include: honey, molasses, stevia, agave nectar, coconut palm sugar, xylitol, maple syrup, etc..  This is important in order to start to enjoy the real taste of foods.

No added refined sugars (white sugar, corn syrup, brown sugar)

No added artificial sweeteners (Truvia, Splenda, Nutrasweet, etc.)

Basically, if it has added sugar or sweeteners, of any kind, do not eat it.

Note:  Again, when we say no sugar, we mean no added sugar. There will be naturally occurring sugars in milk, plain yogurt, fresh vegetables and fruit, that’s okay. The idea is to give up ADDED sugars that are in most all processed foods. So when you read a nutrition label, look at the actual list of ingredients, NOT the percentage of sugar per serving (unless you must do so for medical reasons).

BOUNCE! Outing

This month we are going to head to the BOUNCE! trampoline park in Danbury. The date I am looking at is 4/22 at 12-? This is a whole family event so please bring the kiddos! We will be going to enjoy open bounce, which allows you to choose how long you want to bounce for. Pricing is available here.

 

 Upcoming EVENT:

This week I received an invite to a fundraiser put on by the Special Olympics of CT and the Law Enforcement Torch Run. The event is a truck pull (which sounds SO FUN!) in East Haven on May 13. They are looking for teams of 8, or 10 if it is an all female team to compete in the truck pull. All proceeds of entry fees will go to the SOCT. I think this is a great opportunity to do something awesome (I mean, come on who has ever had the opportunity to try to pull a truck!?) and also a chance to show off how strong our crew is! There will be food and drinks there, and the event runs from 9-1. If anyone is interested LET ME KNOW! I would love to put a team together, and early registration ends May 8! Who wants to come rep TRINITY with me?! (For more info the flyer will be on the bulletin board.)
